The Mental Health Association QLD (MHAQ) has launched its 2013 Mental Health Week Superhero Project, which includes the Creative Heroes Arts Competition.
This year, the National Mental Health Week will be celebrated between 6 – 12 October 2013. Mental Health Week is an annual awareness event designed to engage communities in activities, which promote good mental health and wellbeing and to enhance awareness and understanding about the needs, experiences and issues surrounding mental health.
The theme of ‘My Inner Superpower’ is intended to encourage people to think about their strengths and the things they like about themselves. Recognising these things in yourself is important to maintaining and improving mental wellbeing.
“We rarely take the time to think about the things we are good at or the things we like about ourselves, but when we do, it’s surprising how good it makes us feel. Whatever your inner super power is, it is important to acknowledge it as a positive and unique part of who you are”, said Kathryn Kenny, Executive Officer, MHAQ.
Entrants in the Creative Heroes Arts Competition will share their inner super powers through drawing, photography and poetry.
We invite all age groups, from primary & secondary school students to adults, to tap into their creative talents and join in the competition. There are some great prizes to be won in each category, such as MP3 players and Android Tablets.
All Creative Art entries will be displayed and winners will be announced at the MHAQ Mental Health Week 2013 Launch at Parliament House in Brisbane on Tuesday 8 October 2013.
